Direct Observation Collections are generally  conducted when ordered by the Employer , MRO or S.A.P. for Return to Duty or Follow-Up Testing.. The Collector can also order, and  Immediately complete one, if they suspect sample tampering, substitution, out of temperature, out of normal color range or for any other circumstance   permitting it.  Generally, it is not done, unless the Donor is suspected of "possible" sample tampering, substitution, abnormal temp or color or is reported as hyper-Dilute.

DO NOT DRINK LARGE AMOUNTS OF LIQUIDS, WITHIN 8 HOURS , OF YOUR UPCOMING TEST ! 

We test for all known sample adulteration, dilution and substitution products & donor avoidance tactics on

every test we perform.   Any type of sample tampering, discovered during the collection

or testing process, will cause your test to be reported as a  "Refusal to Test".

BRING Drug Test Order Form

or other paperwork with you for testing - Report no later than your assigned deadline;


BRING your Drivers License

or current employer ID, WITH picture;


BRING a positive and cooperative attitude. Remember, this process is voluntary.  If you don't want to do it, for whatever reason, tell our sample collector, we will stop the collection and release you. 

Note: Negative, rude, argumentative or otherwise uncooperative people will be turned away and reported as a "Refusal To Test" to the referring party;


DON'T BRING any child under 18

years of age. Also, don't bring any friends, family, relatives, or other people with you to your testing appointment.  We don't provide childcare of any kind, nor do we have the room to accommodate extra non-testing persons;


DON'T BRING purses, wallets, backpacks,

briefcases, notebooks, computers, hats, jackets, overalls, weapons, cash, credit cards, jewelry or anything of value to your testing appointment;


DON'T BRING anything

that can be possibly identified by the Collector as a "suspect adulterant or substitution device".  (i.e.: Don't bring any plastic baggies, containers, vile, tablets, powders, medications, eye drops, envelopes, packets or liquids of any kind);

DON'T BRING drinks, food, snacks

or any type of beverage(including any type of bottled/tap water) to your appointment. The Collector is required to monitor your fluid intake, to ensure you get a valid, non-dilute, test result. Dilute results trigger an immediate retest via HAIR.

DON'T drink more than 40 ounces

of any type of liquid (including any type of bottled/tap water) within 4 hours of your testing appointment. 


DON'T attempt to defeat, interfere, hinder,

obstruct, delay or do anything that may negatively affect the Chain of Custody of your sample or the laboratory screening and confirmation processes;

DON'T bring any type of medications,

Rx bottles, list of medications you are taking or anything concerning your current or past  "medical history".  Any medication(s) you have or are currently taking will be discussed, privately, between yourself and our off-site Medical Review Officer(MRO).

the person being tested ("Donor"), copy/scan Donor's ID to file;

OBTAIN

proper Custody & Control Form;

INSPECT RESTROOM

for left over items from the previous collection, such as adulterants, baggies or containers. Also, ensure restroom is clean & prepared for your next collection;

INVITE Donor 

by first name, into Collection Facility;

HAVE DONOR

immediately selecttheir sample cup, from a variety of 3 or more cup choices.  This cup selection MUST BE DONE FIRST, to start the collection process.  Do NOT open the selected sample cup, yet;

HAVE DONOR

empty & display items found within pockets and clothing. Visually Inspect all items, including wallet contents, for possible adulterants or unauthorized items. If nothing is found, Donor retains all items;

HAVE DONOR

remove hat, jacket or any other outer clothing, that is not needed to retain Donor privacy. Donor will never be asked to expose or reveal any "private" areas, unless a "Direct Observation" sample collection is done;

HAVE DONOR  

privately provide a minimum of 45ml of urine, into the large sample cup. The Collector keeps the two smaller containers outside the restroom, while the Donor provides their sample in complete privacy, with the door closed. Have the Donor bring their sample to you, within 4 minutes of void, to ensure accurate sample temperature;

CHECK THE SAMPLE 

for signs of possible tampering or substitution, then check the temperature, within 4 minutes. If acceptable, proceed;

SPLIT-SAMPLE

from the larger sample cup, into the two smaller containers, to be labeled Bottle A & Bottle B. The Donor should attentively watch the Collector while their sample is being poured off into Bottle A & B. You must also ensure, without fail, there is no less than 30ml of urine in Bottle A and 15ml in Bottle B. As the Donor watches, the Collector will affix the bottle seals to each container, date the seals, then have Donor initials each bottle seal, attesting the sample is theirs. 

FINALLY,  the Donor(not the Collector), completes the MRO section of the Custody & Control Form, then signs within the Chain of Custody section of the CCF, releasing ownership of the sample to the Collector. Collector then packages the sample for shipment to the testing lab. Donor is then issued their copy of the CCF and thanked for their time.  Collection is now complete.
